Kanha National Park
is in Mandla district of MP in Central India. It is a Tiger reserve under the eye of Project tiger in India. It is a large National Park with and area of over 1,940-sq-kms.
The topography
is interesting - horseshoe shape valley, grasslands or meadows, hills or dadars surrounded by spurs of Mekal Hills the last reach of Satpura Range. The lifeline of the park is Surpan
River which goes through Kanha's Maidans or grasslands.
The forest cover the extensive plateau on hill tops.
The wildlife of the
park is as interesting - Bengal Tiger, Indian Bison or Gaur, Sambhar Deer, Spotted Deer or Chital,
rare Hard Ground Brushing, Barking Deer, Chounsingha, Mouse Deer,
Sloth Bear, Jackal, Fox, Porcupine, Hyena, Jungle Cat,
Rock Python, Peafowls, Hanuman Langur, Wild Boars, Dhole or Wild Dog,
Mongoose and Leopards & much more to see.
